What's New for 2024?
As it enters its third generation of production, GMC rolls out some significant upgrades for the 2024 Acadia. The automaker is changing the engine options for 2024. Gone are the 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder and the 3.6-liter six-cylinder. Instead, all trims will get a new 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The latest edition of the Acadia has also undergone a growth spurt for 2024, emerging taller, wider, and longer. That gives the Acadia more legroom as well as more expansive cargo space.
But those are not the only changes for the 2024 GMC Acadia. The bigger Acadia is also able to tow more, with the maximum towing capacity jumping to 5,000 lbs. There are also some safety and tech improvements, including a new 15-inch vertical infotainment screen with built-in Google capability and an 11-inch instrument cluster panel.
Real World Performance
With its new 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, the 2024 GMC Acadia pumps out 328 horsepower and 326 lb.-ft. of torque. That's an increase of 18 hp and 55 lb.-ft. of torque compared with 2023's V6 engine. This, combined with the added size and stability, has increased the Acadia’s towing capacity to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped. For this model, GMC wanted the Acadia to take on more of a truck-like persona with a luxury feel, and the brand achieved it. Suspension updates mean the Acadia retains its luxury road manners, with a smooth ride and excellent handling for a vehicle of its size.
Drivers who want a more rugged experience will love the Acadia AT4 trim, which also received some amazing updates. Active Torque Control AWD is exclusive to the Acadia AT4, giving it premium off-road capability. The AT4 model is also one inch taller, with a wider track and 18-inch all-terrain tires, to deliver better clearance and grip on the trail. The Acadia’s suspension has been retuned for the AT4 model, providing better rebound control and selectable drive modes including Terrain mode and Hill Descent Control put the power in the driver’s hands.
