2021 GMC Acadia
Overview
Room for up to seven passengers, a well-appointed cabin, and what GMC calls an "Athletic Attitude" make the new 2021 GMC Acadia one of the most popular midsize SUVs on the road today. GMC offers this year's Acadia in five trims - SL, SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali - as well as a choice of three engines, and front and all-wheel drivetrains.
The Acadia makes a definite first impression thanks to a prominent front end featuring a large chrome grille, wraparound LED headlamps, and unmistakable GMC badging. Sportier AT4 editions replace most exterior chrome with black trim. A body-color roof-mounted shark-fin antenna, heated power side mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators, and deep-tinted glass round out some of the more notable exterior details.
Standard features like tri-zone automatic climate control, Active Noise Cancellation, and front bucket seats provide exceptional comfort. Convenience features include keyless open and start, remote start, and 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot capability. Every Acadia trim also comes standard with a GMC Infotainment System, which features an 8-inch color touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, and factory-installed satellite radio.
The Perfect Ride For…
With five trim levels, excellent fuel economy, and lots of versatility, the Acadia will appeal to a wide range of buyers. Room for up to seven passengers makes it perfect for families, carpooling, or a night out with friends. With over 79 cubic feet of cargo space, the Acadia also puts the "Utility" into Sport Utility Vehicle. Up to four-thousand pounds of max towing ability makes trailering a breeze, as well. AT4 models handle the backroads with ease thanks to standard features like AWD, an advanced twin-clutch, and the Acadia's Traction Select System with "Off-Road" mode. A Bose premium 8-speaker sound system, heated and ventilated driver and front passenger seats, and factory-installed navigation make Denali edition just right for a night on the town.
Drive and Handling
GMC offers the 2021 Acadia with a choice of three engines—a 193-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder, a 230-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder, and a 310-horsepower 3.6-liter V6. All three power-plants feature Variable Valve Timing, Spark-Ignition Direct Injection, and GMC's fuel-saving Stop/Start technology. All of the engines also get linked to an electronically controlled 9-speed automatic transmission. AWD comes standard on AT4 models and optional on all other trims, SLE models excluded. A large stabilizer bar, side-load-compensated front strut modules, and MacPherson front suspension offer exceptional handling and ride control. Every Acadia also comes standard with GMC's StabiliTrak electronic stability and traction control systems. Denali buyers have the option to add an upgraded Performance Ride and Handling suspension as well as Adaptive Ride Control.
Key Features
The GMC Infotainment System
The Acadia's standard GMC Infotainment System adds lots of fun and functionality to the mix. The system features a multi-touch 8-inch color touchscreen, an AM/FM/SiriusXM radio, and voice command capability. Built-in Bluetooth connectivity allows hands-free calling and music streaming. The system also supports Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, which lets users control and manage a variety of smartphone apps right through the Infotainment system.
Hands-Free Power Programmable Liftgate
An optional hands-free power programmable liftgate makes opening and closing the rear gate a snap. Drivers need only slide their foot under the left-hand side of the rear bumper to automatically open the tailgate (for safety purposes, the Acadia's key fob must be within range). A memory-height function also lets you program how high the gate opens. Along with using a foot motion, a button on the Remote Keyless Entry transmitter, a liftgate button inside the vehicle, and a touchpad on the exterior liftgate-handle offer convenient methods for opening and closing the rear-gate.
